Substitute Golfer:
Substitutes are welcome to play, but their score will not count; nor will they be eligible for any prizes.
Gimmie Putts:
The Rules of Golf require that the player's ball "holes out" on each hole played. This league allows for "gimmie puts" as long as both teams playing agree. An acceptable league length for a gimmie put is anything that is "within the leather" on the putter.
Out-of-Bounds:
(Not stroke and distance) Take a penalty drop along the flight of the ball up to the point where the ball went out of bounds. Do not attempt to play your ball from the personal property surrounding the golf course.
Lost Ball:
If a ball can’t be found, and it came to rest in an area with no chance of hazard in play (meaning no water or OB a possibility) and if both teams can agree on the approximate area the ball landed, a ball may be placed in the agreed upon area with no penalty.
One Club Length:
As long as your ball is in play, you can move it one club length.
(Note: being in a hazard is not considered being in play.) A ball can not be moved if in a sand trap or below the “stake lines” surrounding lateral or water hazards.
The ball can not be moved closer to the pin and can not change the type of lie you have. For example, you can not move: from the rough to the fairway, the rough to the fringe, fringe to the green, etc.
It is possible to better your lie! If stymied by a tree, bush, fence etc. and moving your ball one-club length gives you a shot, this is considered legal. As long as the other provisions are followed, no closer to the pin and the type of lie remains the same (rough to rough)
In some instances the ball may need to be moved more than one club length, but this should not be made for the shooters convenience and should be agreed upon by both teams.
Ready Golf:
If you are ready and either your opponent or team mates is not; please take your shot even though you may be closer.
Maximum Score:
Double par is the maximum score on any hole, pick your ball up as soon as you reach that score.
League Rain Policy:
The league rule for rain is as follows:
1. We will not play if Seminole Lake cancels play due to course conditions
2. We will stop play due to a heavy downpour lasting longer than 15 minutes during play
a. This is Florida, and we are known for having "spot" downpours
b. You will hear "the horn" sound if league play is cancelled after it has started
3. We will stop play if there is lightning within 10 miles of the course
a. Safety is important...play will be cancelled if there is lightning
b. You will hear "the horn" sound if league play is cancelled after it has started
4. We will continue play during a light drizzle
a. You must complete all 9 holes to be eligible for team points
b. If you decided not to finish play even though the league is still playing, you will forfeit your team points for the round
NTMA Golf League Rules
The NTMA Golf League follows The Rules of Golf. The sole purpose of the following league specific rules is to try and keep play moving. If you like to play the ball down, you are welcome to do so, but please try to be considerate of those playing behind you. AND remember that players taking advantage of theses liberties are doing so within the league’s sanctions, if they offend you, find another league.
